The Masonic Village orchard has been a proud steward of the land for 100 years. We practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM) on our farm in order to preserve sustainable agriculture for our generation and generations to come.
Reduced pesticide usage slows insect resistance, does not disturb ecological harmony and tends to maintain the effectiveness of those pesticides that are used for a longer time.
In our situation, IPM has fostered a return to a more natural balance. Improved long-term control of pests has resulted, and greater yields have been achieved.
We believe you as a consumer have the right to healthful, abundant food that is produced and handled safely. We also believe food should be produced with a deep respect for the environment to ensure our future as well as our children’s future.

Weatherbury Farm Stay
It's the 21st century -- and Grandma no longer lives on the family farm. We invite you to stay with us at our family's working farm and make some down-on-the-farm memories. Escape to the tranquility of our meadows, gardens, cows and sheep. Weatherbury Farm is a quiet place, removed from the cares of the world (but just 45 minutes southwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) -- the unique farm stay you have always hoped to find.
Staffed by our family of three, Weatherbury Farm is a working grass-fed beef and sheep farm and not a Disneyworld environment (with a staff of thousands). Certified organic grains (soft & hard wheat, oats, spelt, open-pollinated corn, emmer and einkorn) are also grown on the farm.
If you are looking to experience a real working farm, please consider a stay at Weatherbury Farm.
We are farming twice as much acreage as we did several years ago -- however, we still want folks to have the opportunity to experience life on the farm.
We've made a few changes to our farm stay format for 2016, including B&B farm stays with light chores and group stay opportunities.
In 2016, Weatherbury Farm will offer three types of farm stay opportunities on select Friday and Saturday nights in June, July & August:
1. B&B Farm Stay with continental breakfast. Light morning chores** will be offered on Saturday and/or Sunday morning. Enjoy life on the farm and/or explore the countryside. ** Subject to farmers' schedule
2. Farm Stay Experience with a hearty farm fresh breakfast followed each day by in-depth morning chores. Weatherbury's educational farm experience stay is appropriate for adults and children (usually 8 & older) who want to learn more about farming and agriculture. The emphasis will be on the organic and sustainable production methods used at Weatherbury Farm.
3. Group farm stays -- rent all three suites for a family & friends get-together. Continental breakfast. Light morning chores** will be offered on one or both mornings. Enjoy life on the farm and/or explore the countryside. ** Subject to farmers' schedule
Farm stay visitors are invited to participate in our Weatherbury Farm Kids Program.
Weatherbury Farm is a great vacation for the whole family. Not only does Weatherbury Farm offer the opportunity to learn about life on the farm, it is a great home base for exploring Pittsburgh, SW PA, northern panhandle West Virginia and eastern Ohio. Families will enjoy the farm's 100 acres, swimming pool and kids corner.
Organic Flours and Milled Products from Weatherbury Farm
Weatherbury Farm is a small certified organic farm producing estate flours, akin to an estate wine.
Since 2009, certified organic grains (soft & hard wheat, oats, spelt, open-pollinated corn, buckwheat, black beans, emmer and einkorn) have also been grown on the farm. (We have been farming without herbicides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers since 1988.) We are now selling our grains as flour directly to consumers.
From putting the seed into the soil to putting the flour into the bag all of the operations of planting, harvesting, grain cleaning and milling happen on our farm. The consumer can rest assured because our products are organically grown and processed. The organic certification means we have a rigorous annual inspection which verifies that our inputs, farming methods and processing are compliant with the USDA National Organic Program.
Grass Fed Meats (Beef & Lamb) from Weatherbury Farm
Weatherbury Farm is a family owned beef and sheep farm located southwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Beef and lamb is available by pre-order only and can be picked up at the farm when ready.
Beginning in January, the farm takes orders for grass-fed freezer beef (~ mid August and ~ mid December) and grass-fed freezer lamb (~mid-October). Grass-fed freezer beef is sold by the half and split quarter. We also offer whole cow ground hamburger at least once each year.
Our cows and sheep eat certified organic grass & hay and are bedded on certified organic straw. They receive no artificial steroids, growth hormones or antibiotics. As a certified organic farm, we do not use pesticides or herbicides
Visit us online at grassfed.weatherburyfarm.com. You can sign up for our grass-fed newsletter on our website.
Sheep Fest @ Weatherbury Farm
Throughout much of the nineteenth century, the Upper Ohio Valley was the premier sheep raising area in the country, producing a high quality wool which achieved world-wide recognition.
Focusing on wool and related fiber arts, Sheep Fest had on-going traditional demonstrations of spinning, weaving, wool dyeing, felting, rug-making, bobbin lace making, quilting and knitting & crocheting; hands-on opportunities and educational displays about sheep, wool and fiber arts. Folk music was ongoing.
Sheep Fest was held annually at Weatherbury Farm for four years, 2002 - 2006. Currently we have no plans for a future Sheep Fest. But who knows? In the future, we may once again host Sheep Fest at Weatherbury Farm.
Weatherbury Farm, however, continues to offer farm stays on select summer weekends for folks to learn about sheep and other farming activities
FIT RIGHT SADDLE SOLUTIONS
Saddlefit 4 Life Certified Saddle Ergonomist, Terry Peiper specializing in educating riders about proper saddle fit and how it affects our horse's behavior, performance and ultimately the health of horse and rider. Saddle fit evaluations for any type of saddle. Adjustable saddle sales and service in Carlisle PA.
Terry Peiper has been "Helping Horses With Their People" in south central PA for over 35 years as an accredited Richard Shrake Resistance Free ® Trainer/Instructor and certified American Riding Instructors Association (ARIA) Instructor giving lessons and clinics at her farm, Buck N Horse Hollow near Carlisle,PA.
Riding lessons/horse training sessions consist of a blend of the first phases of Classical Horsemanship and Richard Shrake's Resistance Free Training methods. The under saddle lesson plans emphasize the balanced seat, safety, rider position, control, timing, rhythm and the proper use of aids. In hand or groundwork sessions consist of proper leading, lunging and understanding horse psychology. Her students ride English or Western, some for show but mostly for pleasure.
Studying saddle ergonomics started out as just another way for Terry Peiper to help her students however, it quickly took over her life when she discovered that her own horse, Easy has a condition called kissing spine which was likely caused by many years of riding in poor fitting saddles. “I can’t go back and undo what I have done but I can spread the word about proper saddle fit to prevent other horses from needless suffering” says Terry.
Recognizing the huge need for proper saddle fit, Terry Peiper proudly joined up with Saddlefit 4 Life "A network of equine professionals dedicated to preventing horse and rider from long term damage" and passionately pursues her mission to educate as many riders as possible of the importance of proper saddle fit.
To be an effective rider, the saddle must place the rider's center over the horse's center so both can be balanced together. A saddle ergonomist interfaces the saddle, the horse and the rider together. Terry Peiper is certified by the Saddlefit 4 Life, a network of equine professionals working together to prevent long term damage to horses and their riders.
Services at Buck N Horse Hollow and at your barn within 100 miles include:

Clover Creek Cheese Cellar, LLC
We are a family farm located on scenic Clover Creek in Central Pennsylvania. Our farm is 126 acres of pasture and woods. We milk 60-80 Jersey, Ayrshire, Milking Shorthorn, and cross-bred cattle, rotating them to fresh pasture at least after each milking. We milk in a New Zealand style swing parlor, and the whole family (Dad, Mom and 5 children) is involved in the operation. We plan on the cows calving in March and April and eating the majority of their ration as pasture. In the winter they are fed grass hay. We sell raw milk from the farm and grass-fed beef.
We built our own cheese plant in 2007 and now have our own farmstead artisan raw milk cheeses for sale. Our cheese is not another push button cheese. Each vat is filled slowly, using a stainless steel pipeline direct from the milking area as the cows are being milked. Cultures are then carefully added and the milk is gently stirred by hand, not beaten by stainless steel paddles. After the right amount of time, rennet is added following the age old tradition of making great farmstead cheese. After coagulation, the curds are quickly cut, allowed to rest and heal, and then gently stirred by hand. The curds are eventually packed into molds and pressed by hanging weights for the allotted time. Cheeses are then aged in one of our climate-controlled cellars, on locally grown sugar maple shelving. Instead of suffocating them in plastic, they grow a natural rind that gives additional character and flavor to the cheese. At just the right time, we remove them, package them, and sell them to discriminating customers. Welcome to the taste and quality of true farmstead artisan cheese! We hope you enjoy our cheese as much as we enjoy making it!
Our cheese varieties include:
Galen's Good Old ~ our own Gouda style
Smoked Galen's ~ our own smoked Gouda
Tussey Mountain ~ our Emmanthaler Swiss
Royer Mountain ~ our Alpine style
Cheddar ~ our cellar-aged cheddar
Bruschedda ~ our basil, garlic, and dried tomato cheddar
Uncle Joe's ~ our own style washed with white wine
Winemaker's Select ~ our own style soaked in Cabernet Sauvignon
Wild Mushroom ~ our chanterelle mushroom and chive flavored cheese
Pirate Blue ~ our blue cheese
Alpha & Omega ~ our Greek-style cheese
Cheese can be sent through USPS or UPS during cool weather. Check out our website for pictures of our cheese and monthly updates from the farm!

Most recently, we have begun a Choose and Cut Christmas Tree endeavour on a small portion of the farm created in 2007 by their son, Ryan, and a farm market venture run by my sister, Renee. As season progresses we may limit amount of trees sold so we insure a good variety of choices for the following years. We bundle trees if customer desires for no additional charge.Every year we have a different wooden ornament that is given with tree until we run out. All who tag a tree are guaranteed an ornament. We thrive to make customer service a priority.

We are a producer of Christmas trees in the area and have been growing premium conifers since 1970. We specialize in Fraser-fir, douglas fir, and Colorado "blue" spruce, but also produce concolor fir and balsam fir for cutting. In the shop there are wreaths, swags, roping, and other ancillary Christmas tree items as well as the "Stand Strait" tree stands. Our specialty items are the original hand carved Santa's and ornaments by David C. Ferree. New this year are children's books about Tannenbaum Farm by Maureen Baggett. Custom wreath decorating is available with notice. The pre-cut trees are limited and vary in price from $30 to $60. Our business is primarily choose and cut your own. People often tag a tree earlier in the season and cut it later. All of our choose your own trees, no matter the size, are priced at $40. This amount includes tax, shaking, drilling if necessary, and baling. The lunch stand is available on weekends only, it serves hot sausage sandwiches as well as a variety of other warm food and drinks. There are signs in the fields to direct you to the various trees and employees around the shop to assist in the processing of the trees.
