Barefoot Farm
Experience picking your own STRAWBERRIES, RASPBERRIES & PUMPKINS at Barefoot Farm! We are a family friendly farm that you’ll want to make a tradition. Come pick fresh produce from our well maintained fields. It’s enjoyable, healthy and frugal.
Visit us where we live, work and play. Our front porch is “Grand Central Station”. You’ll be greeted near our garden gate and later finalize your purchases there. The 200 year old summer house is where you’ll find cold soda, popsicles, toys and strawberry novelties. You are welcome to enjoy your ice cream or a brown bag lunch at a picnic table under the cherry tree. Potted perennial flowers are for sale within view of the front porch swing.
We have several acres of strawberries and pumpkins, as well as red and black raspberries. Remember, a good rule of thumb is that strawberries come in around Memorial Day and continue most of June. Raspberries start mid June but don’t last long after July 4th. Pumpkins season is the month of October.
Children are welcome to pick. We love to see families create memories here. We do ask that children be taught respect –not to trample berries or waste them. We offer a shaded play area within sight of the fields. Our photo spot is fun too, so DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMERA!
“Pick-your-own” saves money and provides you with the freshest, tastiest produce. Fresh asparagus, rhubarb, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, mint tea, etc. are other garden items you’ll find in season.

VOLLMECKE ORCHARDS & CSA
VOLLMECKE ORCHARDS & CSA is a 37-acre family-owned farm and orchard growing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. We operate a 150-member Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and offer retail sales as well. Crops and products offered: fruits, vegetables, fresh eggs, fruit butters, applesauce, honey, herbs, cut flowers and compost.
We grow all of our vegetables naturally, without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, genetically modified organisms or sewage sludge. We use crop rotation, cover crops and compost extensively to enrich our soil so it will support a teeming soil biology that, in turn, supports healthy plants. We describe this as "growing naturally."
In our orchards, we practice IPM (Integrated Pest Management), choosing to apply cultural techniques where possible rather than sprays. When we find it necessary to spray, materials are selected on the basis of safety, efficacy, and minimal impact to the environment.
At this time, we have chosen not to seek organic certification. Being "certified organic" would not change our growing practices, but it would add significantly to our paperwork and operating expenses and, therefore, to our share price and retail prices.
We feel that when you have trust in, knowledge of, and access to the farmers who grow your food, certification becomes unnecessary. Unlike purchasing produce at a grocery store, if CSA members or customers have questions about our growing practices, they are welcome to ask us directly. And they are welcome to visit the farm to see exactly where and how our crops are grown.

BISON SERVICES
BISON SERVICES is a specialized service for those either in the buffalo business or considering buffalo production. I offer consultation in bison breeding, feeding, production, management, fencing, handling systems, and more. My clients range from the Canadian border to Georgia and west to Indiana.
Having designed many custom handling systems and worked with farms all over the east coast, I can look at your location and tell you what will work with this non-domesticated animal and what will not. Handling of bison is the most stressful part of bison production, but can be accomplished safely and successfully with the proper handling system. The key is to understand the nature of the animal.
One of our product lines features a portable handling system built of steel pipe, designed and built especially for your location. The advantage of this system is its flexibility in expanding as your herd grows.

Burkholder's Ever-Green Farm, Inc.
Visit us in beautiful northern Lancaster County for our own asparagus, red raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, gooseberries, and other luscious produce. We also grow and sell fresh and dried lavender and herbs, and related gifts. In 2010 we'll be adding more of our own and other farm produce. Owners Dan and Margi Burkholder have both taught school and grown berries and other produce since the late 1970’s. Over the decades, our business changed from retail, pick-your-own, and wholesale, to just wholesale. Now with retirement from teaching, we’re reentering the retail farm business with a new spacious building for our produce market and antique shop. We grow hundreds of lilies and other perennials and invite you to enjoy our gardens and antique farm equipment displays. We also board horses with eight stalls and three spacious pastures. Tammie Stark of Stockwell Stables manages the horses and specializes in thoroughbred race horses, lay-ups, and sales prep. Pleasure and retired horses welcome. Availability varies.
Our business name honors our farm's listings in local history books as "The Evergreen Farm". We do not sell evergreens, but hope to keep this property "Ever-Green". Our beautiful location has been in agriculture since the late 1700's and in the Burkholder family since 1924. Dan and Margi purchased the main farm homestead in 2002. Our motto, "Preserving History, Conserving the Land" reflects our commitment to bio-friendly practices, such as generating solar electricity, using geo-thermal heating and cooling, maintaining our creek frontage in the CREP program, and using as many organic practices as feasible. We have been working to preserve and restore our historic buildings. Our large antique shop is open and filled with local and Pennsylvania historical items and unique gifts. Inventory ranges from primitive farm to Victorian to vintage; woodenware, tools, stoneware, granite ware, bottles, fine glass and china, artwork, paper ephemera, furniture, and much more. Price ranges to suit all. Open as indicated by listed hours. Winter hours by chance or appointment.
Looking forward to a visit! God bless.
