Aboundingful Farm
Hard to believe summer is about half over already. Fairs are around the corner. All the lambs and kids are on the ground, weaned and looking for new homes. There is one registerable Jacob ram lamb left. He’s a handsome two-horned fellow with very nice fleece. Also available are a 4-horned and 2-horned proven ewes. Two angora bucklings for sale intact or wethered (one silver, one reverse badger) & there are quite a few Icelandic lambs for sale. This was the year for black and black/grey lambs. I had planned to keep most of the ewes for replacement ewes but unfortunately I never received the registration papers for their sire so I’m selling them unregistered. They have lovely fleeces and nice conformation and will be great additions for a spinners flock.
The bunny barn is busy with babies. There are currently some French Angoras of all ages for sale, with more due soon. I haven’t had many English litters lately, so there are mostly Sr. English bucks and does for sale right now. We’ve had a few litters of some lovely Satin Angoras, coppers, reds and chestnut, they will be available for sale soon. There are currently no Thriantas for sale, if the latest breeding were successful we should have a few litters ready to go by fall.
I will only be attending two fiber festivals this Fall, Endless Mountains in September and Shenandoah in Oct.
Keep checking back... some new fiber critters will be arriving soon!
More about the farm...

Milk House Farm Market
Slack farm was established in the mid 1800's and the diary farm was passed on to the current generation in 1951 to Carl and Janice Slack. We sold our dairy herd in 1988 but have continued to crop farm. In 2007 we established the Milk House Farm Market in the old milk house part of the dairy barn. Brenda Slack and her father now run the market which specializes in outstanding Sweet Corn and Tomatoes. We have 300 chickens that lay delicious brown and green (yes, green) eggs which are available daily in the market. We now have cabbage, snow peas, shelling peas, scallions, turnips, beets, fresh cut dill, organic lettuces, arugala, mustard greens, radish, spinach and vegetable and herb plants for sale. We also have local honey and honey products for sale and we added four more hives to our farm this year. In April we launched the Milk House Soap Company and now offer handmade soaps such as "Heavenly Shea Butter" Almond Butter Soap, Coffee Soap (to neutralize oders on your hands after cutting onions, garlic, etc.), and Almond Honey Soap. We will update this site regularly to let you know what we currently have to offer. We recently added 100 chicks to our farm as well as two Llama's and two Alpaca's! Come by to meet them! In addition, we will be selling our eggs and produce at the Wrightstown, New Hope and Linden Hill Farmer's Markets this year so hopefully if you can't make it to our market we will be coming closer to you at one of these markets. See the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance Website for location, dates and times of all local farmers markets. Starting in June we will be offering cofee and fresh baked goods for sale on Saturday mornings from 7am to 11 am. Come sit under a shade tree, take in the farm and the animals, and enjoy a fresh cup of joe and a treat. Isabel (from Twigs) is also making handpainted gourds and birdhouses for sale in the market that are adorable, functional and truely one of a kind items. Mr. Slack continues to sell hay, straw, and mulch hay year round. Brenda loves growing cut flowers and has developed quite a following for her generous bouquets of Sunflowers and Zinnia's. Our customers say coming to our farm is like going back in time to how Bucks County used to be. Come see for yourself a slice of Bucks County history and enjoy our healthy, delicious, high quality produce, honey, and eggs.

All apples,Indian corn, and pumpkins are available for retail or pick your own. All apple trees are dwarf to allow very easy access during picking. Three year old children often pick their own special apples and pumpkins without their parents help. Ladders are NOT, repeat NOT needed. We also sell jams, and homemade apple and pumpkin pies, to order. Tours are available for small groups such as 4-H, FFA, scouts, gifted persons, church youth groups and both public & private school groups. Please call if you would like a special tour. During 2008, 8 schools visited our farm. Please make yourself at home in our meadow area/picnic area for lunch and afternoon snacks. Call ahead for use and bring your own blanket or chairs. This area is directly adjacent to the Swatara Creek. There is also a self guided nature tour around our property. Many mothers and children have enjoyed this area for neighborhood gatherings during the week. There is no charge to use the picnic area or the walking trail area. Many persons just want to sit in the picnic area, relax, and eat their apples. Our very friendly beef heifers are a major attraction for children and adults of all ages. I have been growing pumpkins for about 5 years. After this short time I am now getting pumpkins that weigh up to 40 pounds. Parents, grandparents and children like to walk in the pumpkin patch and cut their own special pumpkin. A cart is available for ease of transporting your pumpkin. Many persons call and ask if the pumpkins are grown on our property. The answer is YES. There are NO PILES of pre priced pumpkins grown from another farm or patch. When you arrive, we give you a pruner, and you cut the handle from the vine IN the patch. We also have a garden hose and brush so you can wash your own pumpkins on our pumpkin wash stand. All pumpkins are bright orange with dark green handles that are well attached with no fungus.
Our orchard is an agri tourism business. We have about 250 dwarf apple trees, 10 peach trees, approximately 1 acre of pumpkins, 7 acres of crop land and about 4 acres of nature trails and picnic area. The pumpkins weigh between 2 & 40 pounds, cost $3 to $6 each. Pick your own apples, 70 cents per pound. Indian corn is priced according to size. This is my retirement project and I enjoy it greatly.
