Barefoot Farm
Strawberries don't come any sweeter than those you pick fresh from the field. Our family welcomes you to enjoy the place we call home and experience berries at their sweetest. Our farm is a bit off the beaten path, yet not far from major routes. We sell already picked strawberries, but most enjoy experiencing pick-your-own and love the quaint surroundings. While visiting us here on Bluebird Lane, be sure to watch for bluebirds. If your timing is right(9am,noon,or 7pm) you'll hear local church bells play a familiar hymn.
Strawberry season usually begins around Memorial Day weekend (depending on weather) and continues thru most of June. During berry season the flower/veg garden is also ready with asparagus, spring onions, lettuce & rhubarb, gathered fresh for you as you wait or relax on the front porch swing. You'll find fun strawberry items, sodas & popsicles in our summer house.
Bring the family & your camera! You'll want a few snapshots. We love to see families create memories here. We do ask that children be taught respect-not to trample berries or waste them. Once smaller children have experienced their share of picking, we offer a shaded play area within sight of the field, allowing parents to keep a watchful eye as they pick.
Pick-your-own (red & black) raspberries follow strawberry season, however the hours & days for picking are more limited. Please call for details.
Pick-your-own pumpkins begin in Oct. Everyone loves hand pulling our wagons thru the patch to find inexpensive pumpkins & gourds.
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON! We are just 15-20 min. from Dover/Wellsville/Manchester/Newberrytown areas.

Goodness Grows Farm
Goodness Grows Farms was established in 2002, when Erik and Jennifer Schwalm purchased a 40 Acre Farm in Jefferson Township, Butler, Pennsylvania. The property was purchased with the intent of developing it into the headquarters for Erik's landscaping business, Goodness Grows Landscaping. Located approximately 40 miles North of Pittsburgh, it is an ideal location as it is central to several major North Pittsburgh suburbs. Erik diversified his business and added excavation, skid loader and snow removal services to his business and was able to expand his customer base. Goodness Grows Landscapes is always accepting new customers. Estimates are available anytime.
In the Winter of 2005, Erik began to research hobby farming opportunities that might allow him more freedom from his busy landscaping business. Erik discovered Boer goats and the entire meat goat production industry by accident when his brother shared with him a copy of Hobby Farms magazine which was showcasing Boer goats and the meat goat industry. After much research and some help from family, Goodness Grows Farm was officially established in October of 2006 when the first shipment of percentage Boer goats arrived from Texas. After a year of trial and error The Schwalm's have added a powerful Boer buck to the breeding operation and have had a phenominal kidding season! Our herd is 80 head strong (and growing)!
Meat goat production is somewhat new to the Eastern area of the country, but we are conveniently located to one of the largest goat markets in the country, New York. Trial & Error is a big part of raising goats in our region so we are happy to work with you to help you establish your meat production farm. We're especially happy to share & exchange veterinary information; Vets with extensive knowledge on goats are rare! Raising goats in the East is far different than raising them in Texas. We believe in sharing information with fellow farmers so that we all might benefit from the meat goat industry.
Goodness Grows Farms offers a variety of percentage Spanish/Boer & pure Boer goats for sale. We take great pride in combining innovative farming technology with good old fashioned "common sense." These techniques have helped us to maintain a natural farm atmosphere allowing our goats to graze freely on rolling Western Pennsylvania hills and lush woodlands. Our farmland is abundant with vegitation that delights the palate of the goat.

Beechwood Orchards
Beechwood Orchards is a fifth generation, family owned farm that has been operating in Adams County for over a century. The farm is currently being run by David and Tammy Garretson. In 2005 they were joined by their son, Shawn Garretson, after he graduated from Penn State with a degree in Horticulture. Last year Melissa Allen, their daughter, returned to the farm. She brought her two small daughters Isabelle (3 years) and Cammy (20 months) who have already begun to show an interest in agriculture.
Beechwood Orchards has always grown a large variety of tree fruits. We have recently been adding more small fruits, vegetables, and herbs to diversify our crops and provide a larger selection for our market customers.
We are members of Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture and practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to control disease and pests in the field. IPM is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment.
Beechwood Orchards strives to practice sustainable agriculture and still be innovative at the same time. We plant cover crops, use crop rotation, control soil erosion, compost, and monitor both pest and beneficial insects in the fields. We have also worked closely with Penn State Fruit Lab over the years helping them to conduct research to benefit farmers and are currently doing a grape trial with them that consists of 12 different varieties of table grapes, grown on an acre of land. Within the next few years, you will be able to help us out with this by giving your opinion on the flavor of the different varieties. This spring we will also be planting an acre of high density apples on a trellis systen through Penn State.
In the future you can look for some new products from Beechwood Orchards. We will be planting red raspberries this spring in a high tunnel. This will allow us to extend the raspberry season and also provide you with a higher quality product. We are also looking into planting Hardy Kiwis in the near future. We select our fruits and vegetables based on taste tests. Many of these can be found on Slow Foods Ark of Taste. In our experience, taste is the biggest factor in customer satisfaction and in a lot of ways has influenced the crops and varieties that we grow.

Rankin Hay Farm
Hay for Sale.
Located in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County, this family farm has been in continuous agricultural production for over 150 years. Now operated as a hobby farm, we take great pride in producing top quality forage for our horse and livestock customers.
We bale only small square bales to allow easy handling by our horse customers. We bale a quality blend - primarily timothy, with red clover, alfalfa, and some orchard grass. All our hay is field cured, baled directly onto hay wagons, (not dropped on the ground), then offloaded to dry, indoor storage in a conventional bank barn. We don't bale wet hay, nor store bales that have seen rain.
Our farm offers clean, convenient access and easy loading to your truck or trailer, day or night. We can easily handle 53' freight box semi's.
Please call or email to arrange a few test bales for your stock.

Deer Run Daylily Gardens
Deer Run Daylily Gardens specializes in chemical-free field grown daylilies, herbs & other fine perennials. We feature our own original nature photography and we also do narrated slide presentations for civic groups, horticultural societies, church groups, retirement communities, etc. Group tours of our gardens are offered May through mid July. Please see our website for more info on presentations or tours. In our display gardens we have over 1500 different daylily cultivars growing. We currently sell over 400 different cultivars which we have evaluated (growing in our open, windswept location) and selected as good garden worthy varieties. Mixed in with the daylilies in the display beds are thousands of spring bulbs, herbs, perennials and reseeding annuals with the intent of having color from Spring through fall. Some of our garden highlights are: 100+ different Epimedium varieties; over 200 different daffodil varieties; many crested, dwarf, intermediate, tall bearded and Siberian iris; unusual and common wildflowers, hardy Geranium and Lilium. We sell many old fashioned varieties of perennials as well as newer cultivars. We strive to sell plants that are reliably perennial. The plants we sell are individual blooming size plants from seed, cuttings or divisions from our own gardens, carefully potted and prepared for sale. Therefore, we have first hand experience about things like care requirements, winter hardiness, drought tolerance, plant increase/spread, height, bloom time, what creatures are attracted to what and much more than can be found on a garden center tag. Our daylilies are also available bare root, via mail order sales through a printed catalog, which is also viewable on our website. Look at our website for photos of the daylilies, perennials, herbs, etc. which we currently sell. Since we personally grow what we have for sale, our availability list changes somewhat from year to year according to our own garden/nursery supply. Our gardens have developed over the last twenty-one years and this is our 14th year of operation as a nursery. We are an accredited display garden of the American Hemerocallis Society and were featured on the Society's 2000 National convention tour. While we are not certified organic we do follow organic principles in our nursery. If you like plant diversity, unusual as well as common plants, and like spending time out amongst mother nature, than a visit to our gardens and nursery would definitely be worth your time.

Milk House Farm Market
Slack farm was established in the mid 1800's and the diary farm was passed on to the last generation in 1951 to Carl and Janice Slack. We sold our dairy herd in 1988 but have continued to crop farm. We recently established the Milk House Farm Market in the old milk house part of the dairy barn. Brenda Slack and her father now run the market which specializes in outstanding Sweet Corn. We have over 100 chickens that lay delicious brown and green (yes, green) eggs which are available daily in the market. Depending of course on the weather, we should start having lettuce and spinach to offer in May and then steadily increase our produce offerings, as mother nature permits, through October and November with our unbelieveable varieties of unique gourds and pumpkins. We will update this site regularly to let you know what we currently have to offer. Mr. Slack continues to sell hay, straw, and mulch hay year round. Brenda loves growing cut flowers and has developed quite a following for her generous bouquets of Sunflowers and Zinnia's. Our customers say coming to our farm is like going back in time to how Bucks County used to be. Come see for yourself a slice of Bucks County history and enjoy our healthy, delicious, high quality produce, honey, and eggs.
