Berkshire Farmstead Creamery is owned and operated by Jacob and Solomon Meyer and their families. Beginning as a venture in 1977 to provide food for the Meyer family, our endeavor has grown to produce and market a complete line of artisinal cheeses and fresh dairy products. We use all the milk from our own farm and dairy herd to produce our cheese. Our farm is 82 acres of certified organic pasture land and our cows have access to all the lush green grass and fresh air they desire. Our barns are constructed to allow for the cows to have free choice access to the pasture of their choice throughout the day and night. Our cheeses are made in our certified organic cheeseplant right on the family farm. Only all-natural and organic ingredients are used in all our products. Currently we produce more than 50 varieties of cheese. Solomon's wife Michelle is a Wisconsin native and licensed as a certified Wisconsin cheesemaker. Solomon has received over 100 hours of cheesemaking training and holds many various certifications in addition to his B.S. Engineering degree from Penn State. The Meyer family has been processing farmstead cheese since 1982, one of the first farmstead cheese operations in Pennsylvania. With our modern facility, we have opened our doors to farmers all across Pennsylvania and surrounding areas to use our facility to process cheeses for other farms using milk exclusively from their own farms. Our plant is PA state licensed and also certified Kosher in addition to our Organic certification.
