About Us:

History: Foggy Meadow Farm is a family owned and operated "Hobby Farm" in Dempseytown, Pennsylvania which has been in Chris' family for over 50 years. During this time the farm was used for milking, growing field crops and fresh vegetables for sale at local farm markets. Chris grew up learning all of these aspects of farming, but quit doing fresh vegetables when he went to college. I spent summers on my family's dairy farm working to earn money for hay to feed our horses. Although we no longer milk, we still raise beef stock for personal use and have continued to raise chickens for fresh eggs, our field crops are raised in conjunction with Chris' extended family who also own two farms in the area. This year in addition to our regular field corn we tried an older variety of open pollinated corn (Lancaster Sure Crop) that used to be planted by Chris' great-grandfather. The results are amazing - the stalks are over 12 feet tall, some of the ears are higher than we can reach, and the average lengh is 12 inches.

In 1999 we decided to once again grow and sell fresh sweet corn and pumpkins as well as other seasonal items, with encouragement from our friends who own a farm in Trout Run, Pennsylvania.

Farm Stand: We try to add new items each year to our farm stand. This year we are hoping to add at least two more varities of sweet corn and new varities of pumpkins, winter squash & gourds.

We also offer already dried gourds, decorated birdhouse gourds, painted pumpkins, and diabetic jam.

Chris and I still do most of the planting by ourselves but are grateful to our extended families for always pitching in and helping during picking and selling season. We hope that our daughter Brianna will want to carry on the farming tradition when she gets older.

We enjoy working the farm stand by ourselves and meeting our customers. We always appreciate comments and suggestions. We also offer emails to our customers in reference to selling seasons and hours.
