Behind our Herlocher's Dipping Mustard is a story about the power of consumers who know what they like.
It all began in February 1978, at our Train Station Restaurant in State College, PA where our DIPP and pretzel combination became a big hit with our bar crowd. Soon customers began asking us to bottle it to enjoy at home. As soon as Herlocher's Dipping Mustard became available for "take-out", the word spread fast. Customers throughout the Northeast sent in checks for varying amounts, requesting their money's worth of Herlocher's Dipping Mustard. We knew it was time to branch out. During this important time, we were producing Herlocher's Dipping Mustard three times a week in 30-gallon kettles.
Quickly convinced that Herlocher's Dipping Mustard was as popular outside of our restaurant as in, we began expanding. The next six months were devoted to converting our recipe from 30-gallon to 1000-gallon kettle!
The success of Herlocher's Dipping Mustard is a reflection of the stacks of letters we constantly receive from customers across the country ordering more. With their encouragement and support, our story is only beginning, and there is no end in sight. Anyway you DIPP it, Herlocher's Dipping Mustard is making DIPPing history.
