About Us:

Welcome to The Rodale Institute®, where our mission is to create a community of farmers, consumers, and businesses who use their knowledge and experience to change the food system so that together we can grow and use organically grown food and fiber in ways that regenerate each other, our health, our lives, our communities, our spirit, and our planet.

As a leader in regenerative agriculture, The Institute does ground-breaking research at our Experimental Farm, demonstrating the connection between the health of the soil and human health. Farming at The Institute may have changed over the years, but our intent remains the same: to provide more healthful food by creating and maintaining healthy soil.

Our land is devoted to research, education and certified organic production projects, such as the small-scale demonstration garden and state-of-the-art research trials, both of which use a variety of crops. We use proven regenerative techniques and management methods to produce our crops, so that hundreds of visitors each year can see the results of health-based growing techniques first-hand, in field crops and in the demonstration garden.

Most of our fields are planted to grains (corn, soybeans, wheat, rye, oats, and barley). We also grow hay, forages, vegetables, pumpkins and apples. Our crops are available at the red schoolhouse that serves as our Bookstore. More information is available by contacting the Institute directly.

The Institute's New Farm web site, www.NewFarm.org reaches a global community of farmers and other growers so that they can exchange valuable "farmer-to-farmer know-how.” NewFarm.org presents compelling success stories with expert resources for crop and livestock production, direct marketing, local food systems, policy campaigns and community-building.

The Institute's Children's website, www.Kidsregen.org, focuses on empowering children to make healthy choices for the environment, and for themselves. Our staff strives to make this site a safe place for children to interact with other kids, play, and have fun while learning the important connections between healthy soil/environment, healthy food, and healthy people. We also encourage families and educators to join us in the task of empowering young people by utilizing the special "Families" and "Educators" areas of the site. Good ideas, news, lesson plans, downloadable activities and lots more are available here.
