About Us:
Red Rope Farm in Douglassville, PA was started in 2004 by Dave & Kim Day. We began with 2 dozen laying hens and our farm has grown very much in the past 5 years. We now have almost 60 hens, 2 goats and a small flock of Tunis sheep.
We focus on grass feeding at Red Rope Farm because it is most natural for the animals. Our sheep, turkeys and broilers are rotationally grazed and supplemented with some grain. All of our poultry are fed 100% certified organic feed.
Our laying hens are a mixed flock of heritage breeds so we get all shades of brown eggs, as well as green, blue and white eggs. Every year we raise some Tunis lambs, and heritage chickens and turkeys for meat. Chickens are usually ready for pick-up in August; and the turkeys are ready for Thanksgiving.
We grow our veggies in raised beds and don't use any chemical pesticides or fertilizers. Veggies like lettuce, potatoes, carrots, beets and radishes are planted in early spring; and others like tomatoes, squash, beans and cucumbers are planted later.
