Young American Growers (YAG) is a small business located in Centre County just 13 miles from State College and Penn State University. We are a wholesale perennial nursery and we also raise a herd of Boer and other meat goats.
The nursery division of YAG specializes in the production of Astilbe liners in 2.5" and 4" pots. Our speciality lies in the production of perennial liners to help reduce your loss and establishment time and increase turns on your nursery or garden center. We actively grow over 45 different Astilbe and have up to 70 total in stock. YAG grows all of its plants in BIOCOMP BC5-S which has been immensely successful for us and Astilbe love it! We typically grow liners for availability in the Fall and have the flexibility to produce Astilbe at different times and seasons. Though Astilbe are our focus, YAG also grows some Epimedium, Sangisorba and Ligularia. Future growth includes other shade perennials including Aruncus, Polyganatum, Helleborous, Brunnera, Iris, Papaver, and Anenome (to name a few). The goat division of YAG specializes in breeding Boer goats for 4-H projects, meat and breeding stock. We manage a herd of approximately 20 Boer goats including two full blood Boer bucks. Check out our goats at the 2007 Grange Fair.
In addition to the Boer breeding, we also raise dairy buck kids for a meat supply on a continual basis. We would like to hear from you about your interest in a meat supply and would be happy to schedule our for your holidays and special events. Goat website coming soon!
