Flint Hill Farm is a 28 acre working horse-powered farm located in Lehigh County,Pennsylvania. We are multifocused to the Agripublic market in that we offer riding and carriage driving lessons, horseboarding and leasing. Four driving clinics are held a year, two in the spring and two in the fall. These draw students from all ages who either have driven horses in the past and need a refresher to restart driving singles or teams or those who have never driven, but want to see what the experience feels like. We work with the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture to offer clinics for farmers looking to incorporate horsepower on their farms.
Our educational program features school and group tours throughout the year and spinning and weaving classes using the fleece from our Romney sheep. Summer Horse Camp runs July and August-odd weeks for children ages 8-15 and even weeks for Adult of any age to explore all facets of farm life. We offer overnight stays and family weekends "on the farm" as well as a retreat site that has been used by Penn State and churches groups. OPEN HOUSE is featured evey April to welcome Spring and our neighbors, admission is free.
Our web site www.flinthillfarm.org carrries an quarterly newsletter featuring upcoming events and special farm interests. Our apprentice program covers farm management, setting up a small business, and training with driving singles and teams.
The blacksmith will shoe in his shop light and draft horses trailed to the farm by appointment.
We are expanding into the goatmilk and cheese this year. We presently have 3 Alpine and 2 Nubian does who we plan to breed this year. Our raw milk cheese is made from raw milk from a neighboring dairy herd. We are in the experimently stage with cheeses.
We have free-range chickens for eggs available to the public. We hope to be expanding in to broilers and increasing our layers this year.
The fall will feature horsedrawn hayrides and pumpkins during the three weekends prior to Halloween.
Our farm is 45 minutes from Philadelphia, 1 hour and 15 minutes from NYC and only minutes from Bethlehem and Allentown. Six acres of wooded trails are used for hiking, picnicing, riding along with the the trails that thread throughout the our back pastures. We use our blacksmith shop for group gatherings and Birthday parties for children and adult. Grills are available for cooking as well as the bonfire pit, weather permitting. Please call/visit!
