About Us:
Arch Spring Farm Bed & Breakfast consists of the "Manor House" and the "Mill House" and is located in Sinking Valley, near Spruce Creek, about 25 miles west of State College. There are two historic stone houses on the property. Each is rented as a complete unit (not by the room). The Manor House is more formal and sleeps 8 with 4 bedrooms (3 queen, 1 full), 4 1/2 bathrooms, 2 working fireplaces and central air conditioning. The Mill House is more rustic/country and sleeps 6 with 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 full and pair of twin beds), 2 bathrooms, wood burner stove and 2 window A/C units. Both have continental breakfast provided; full modern kitchen is available for guest use.
Arch Spring Farm has been a popular B&B destination for couples who are fans of Penn State football, friends who like to fly fish in the nearby trout streams, and family groups who enjoy the privacy and coziness of having a house furnished with antiques for a get together.
There are hiking trails in the mountains on the grounds. A popular walk is to the natural bridge which gives Arch Spring its name. The yard around the Manor House has some interesting buildings: the "fort," an old ice house and a scale once used to weigh wagons of grain. Cross the footbridge behind the Mill House to see the foundations of houses left from the village of Arch Spring. Down the road are Amish families who sell fresh garden produce, flowers, chairs, baked goods and quilts. Amish buggies pass by the house from time to time; Canada geese and other birds drink from the stream behind the Mill House; deer may enter the crop fields at dusk. Ft. Roberdeau, a reconstructed Revolutionary War compound, is a few miles away, near the Sinking Valley Country Club. Spring Lane Hunt Club arranges a variety of game bird hunts. The Manor House has a DVD player and satellite TV reception; the Mill House has a DVD player but no TV reception. No smoking inside please.
Rentals are handled through Rest and Repast,a bed & breakfast reservation service. Rita will answer your questions regarding amenities, prices, directions, etc. She can even email you photos. You can locate Arch Spring Farm B&B as the "village" of Arch Spring on a PennDOT highway map. The turn-off from PA 453 is at Windy Hill Furniture between Tyrone and Water Street.
