Well, this is the start of our 5th business year. We have gotten the farm back to where it needs to be, and I have gone back to work. The focus this summer will be on the Farmers' Markets. We have cut down on the number or markets, but not on the size of the crops. So if you find us at a market, we should have plenty of fresh picked produce for you.
The peach crop is looking great this year. They are still young trees, but are absolutely loaded. We should have the first crop by mid July and subsequent varieties into October. If you call us, we can tell you what we have and where you can buy them. If you here of any hail storms coming through, put your hands together and say a little pray for us.
The apple crop (with the exception of our Red Delicious)is also looking good this year. The apples seemed to thin better this (which is why the Red's are mostly off the trees), so the apples should have a good size to them.
We will again be having our annual "Fall Fun for Y'All" beginning the second weekend in September. If you have a group, call early and ask for Marcie or Polly to schedule your visit. As in the past, pick your own apples and pumpkins will also be available during these weekends.
As in the past, we should start showing up at market mid-July with sweet corn, cucumbers, zucchini and hopefully peaches.
With the price of fuel and fertilizer going through the roof, your support (for all the local farmers)is needed and appreciated now more han ever.
H_apple_y yours,
John
